Kiewit-Kvaerner Contractors (KKC) is inviting submissions of an Expression of Interest for a potential opportunity for Supply and Delivery of Bentonite (for slurry wall), for the Bull Arm Site, Trinity Bay, in Newfoundland & Labrador (NL), Canada for the Hebron Project.
The Scope of Work includes, but is not limited to:
A cement-bentonite (CB) cut-off wall has been specified as the method for water cut-off for the Hebron bund wall. The bund wall will be constructed to allow downstream dewatering which will create a dry dock area for the construction of the Hebron Gravity Based Structure. Bidders interested in Supplying and Delivering Bentonite to the Bull Arm Site must have:
1) An established Portland Cement Supply Operation
2) Adequate storage facilities
3) The capacity and equipment to meet the delivery requirements
4) Have proven past experience with similar supply needs.
The bentonite product shall be premium grade, ultrafine, sodium-based montmorillonite power (Wyoming-type bentonite or equivalent) meeting or exceeding the requirements of API 13A specifications.
General requirements to the preferred supplier:
In addition to the minimum qualification requirements, suppliers that can comply with the following will be given higher scores in the bid evaluation process (this is not evaluated in the pre-qualification process):
• Legal Entity to be registered in NL
• Warehousing facility in NL – flexible stock program
• Possibility to deliver to other locations than the yard in Bull Arm, Trinity Bay, for example workshops and welding shops that perform prefab for the Hebron project.

KKC in its sole discretion reserves the right to make the final determination of which applicants will receive an Invitation to Tender (ITT), which applicant(s) or combinations thereof will be awarded the final contract(s), or alternatively to not proceed with the ITT process.
The Bull Arm Fabrication site will be operating on a special project labour agreement. A Project description is available on the Hebron Project website (www.hebronproject.com).
Kiewit-Kvaerner Contractors strongly supports providing opportunities to commercially competitive Canadian companies and in particular those from Newfoundland and Labrador. At the Pre-Qualification stage companies will be required to complete a brief Canada/Newfoundland & Labrador Benefits questionnaire and will be asked to acknowledge their willingness to comply with the Benefits requirements. At the Invitation to Tender (ITT) stage a comprehensive Benefits Questionnaire will be required to be completed.

Registration with BIDS.ca is, however, not a prerequisite for being considered for inclusion in our supplier database. If potential suppliers chose not to register with BIDS.ca, they are requested to advise KKC that they will not be registering and to request direct registration in KKC’s supplier database.
